… you can call a lawsuit by an opposing company ’silly.’ In a press release.
Apple and Cisco are continuing to square off over the iPhone trademark, following the lawsuit filed by Cisco over willful trademark infringement. Apple today called the lawsuit “silly,” while Cisco said it was willing to share iPhone with Apple.
Now if only Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony would band together to call a spade a spade.

So apparently, you should precede twenty straight minutes of Wii Sports boxing with stretching exercises.
Oops!
My left bicep still hates me.

Now, this guy’s Wiimote isn’t going anywhere. Unlike these poor suckers.

Square Enix establishes ‘Ivalice Alliance’:
Just recently, Final Fantasy XII followed the adventures of some
IvaliceansIvaliciansfree-spirited (and pointy-eared, in one case) residents of Ivalice. It follows then that Square Enix has announced an “Ivalice Alliance,” a set of stories all taking place on the same stage.Though you’re already familiar with Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings (slated for the DS), you may not have heard of the other two games revealed in the latest issue of Japan’s Shonen Jump. The pages first mention Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War, a PSP remake of the original PSOne Tactics game. Some new cutscenes and a slight graphical upgrade are likely to be included, though we certainly wouldn’t mind a better localization as well — that’s assuming the game makes it stateside. Secondly, there’s (deep breath) Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2: The Sealed Black Book.
Looks like I might finally have a reason to pick up a PSP… again.

…specifically, hard-drive based PS2 games can now be played.
A PlayStation 3 firmware update is now available for the system, nudging it along from version 1.30 to 1.31.
…
According to this machine translated page, they’ve added “installation of hard disk private PlayStation®2 standard software.” Sure, this doesn’t make any sense but if you think like a machine (follow this link), you’ll realize they surely mean that PS2 software that heretofore required that system’s HDD attachment is now functional. This includes Nobunaga’s Ambition Online and Final Fantasy XI.

Hold onto your hats, there’s a lot of video game news today. First up, perhaps the most sensible answer to the Left Behind video game (har har): a video game starring a rabbi, called “The Shivah”:
In the murder-mystery game named after the Jewish mourning ritual, protagonist Rabbi Stone is having a crisis of faith and his congregation on New York’s Lower East side is losing members and cash.
When he inherits a small windfall from a controversial congregant, Rabbi Stone must solve the mystery behind the gift and make sure it is not cursed.
I really truly want to try this now. I wonder if it’s any good?

Maybe this is what happens when you send 6 PS3s to the US and call it a launch:
In a shock move, the PlayStation godfather, Ken Kutaragi, has been eased out of his position as president of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) and will be replaced by Kaz Hirai, the head of SCEI’s US division.
Kutaragi loses day-to-to control of the division responsible for the PlayStation lineup, instead becoming chairman and group CEO. The move is likely to be seen as connected to the PS3 launch delays and poor PlayStation Portable (PSP) sales.

Personally, I still think VG Cats summed it up best. Read the rest of this entry »

You can almost hear the bleeps and bloops, eh? (Well, you probably can. Me, I don’t have speakers at work.)

In a valiant attempt to post something of relevance:
This is because I’ve been playing way, way too much Guitar Hero II lately. Way. Unlocked every song on the first night we were playing it. Finally figured out that the only way to unlock additional basses is to beat things in co-op mode. Starting to work on playing hard mode so I can get used to breaking my wrist in order to get to that fifth fret button.
Sadly, I am going to have to put it down for the weekend… it’s my mom’s birthday, so back home with me. No Guitar Hero II, no Final Fantasy XI, no Final Fantasy XII… alas. Only my trusty DS to tide me over. (Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice For All, Magical Starsign, Touch Detective, Pokemon Ranger… I think I’ll be ok.)

Know what’s a really bad idea?

Buying Final Fantasy XII right after you start a new blog. Talk about never getting anything written. At the very least, I can write about the game: it’s delightful, and I highly recommend it to pretty much anyone. It’s well polished, having lifted great deals of UI and combat system from the MMORPG Final Fantasy XI and made it suitable for an offline game.
And the story. Mm, the story. It’s got several console RPG cliches (notably the Hiro Rule and the Logan’s Run Rule [sort of - Balthier's in his 20s, I think, and Basch is nearly 40]), but it doesn’t prevent it from being good.
